I picked up the newly-installed Fox F29 from the LBS on the way to work. It is very handy having a local staffed by riders who actually ride, race, singlespeed, build track, and drink beer. I’ve always been happy with the work done by Gateshead Cycles, and I recommend them for your MTB needs.
The fork has 80psi and I have the rebound dialled up pretty snappy. The lockout works, but has moved from the bars (with the Tora) to the fork crown. I doubt I’ll use it that much.
Here it is for your viewing pleasure.
A couple of things; I couldn’t resist putting her on the scales, and she now weighs in at 11.8kg (pedals, computer, etc). Also, I have ditched the FSA seatpost in favour of the Thomson from the Jekyll. I wasn’t happy with the carbon off road, I prefer the feel of the Thomson. The Fizik Arione CX seat is nice and narrow and has served me well at the Fling. I have a setback Thomson in the mail, hopefully here next week.
In pre-race news, it appears that the Yellowmundee track is going to be a go for Sunday. Sadly, in the intervening time, all the nearby hotels, motels, pubs, YMCAs, brothels, barns, and the like are fully booked out. Music mayhem has descended on the western suburbs in the form of Soundwave and AC/DC. So this left us between a rock and a hard place. Literally. The rock being to sleep at the track, and the hard place being to drive down at 0400. So, drive it is.
That means an early night for me, pre-race burritos and beer is mandatory.

Tonight I am favoring m&m’s as my energy loading indulgence of choice.
